  1. Thanks, Joy. This informs the literature and non-fiction choices I am contemplating. Today I was thinking about “For Esme with Love and Squalor” (Salinger) and the short story “The Interpreter of Maladies” (Lahiri). Tonight I finished ALL THE LIGHT WE CANNOT SEE (Doerr)which dovetails with curating and power of objects.

    • Kim, on your suggestion–I just read “The Interpreter of Maladies” and read/wept my way through “All the Light We Cannot See.” Both feel super relevant to identity/belonging through object and possessions. Do you think you will read these in your classroom this year?
