Ask, Think, Then Ask Some More

Sorry, I wrote this post earlier this afternoon and thought I posted it! Here is the NPR piece we talked about in today’s roundtable. Good work today. 

Past PAGES teachers have used the “Socratic Method” in the classroom to inspire students to move beyond the surface of a discussion, critically think, and ask lots of questions. Some teachers start with a formal process then once students develop the skills, enter into more informal ways of inquiry-based teaching and learning. Some of you are probably already using this technique in your teaching. As the piece highlights, “Socratic Method” is one of the oldest, and still widely used ways of getting learners to critically think.
